the eco4 grant scheme
The ECO4 scheme (energy company obligation scheme) is a government led grant scheme funded by some of the biggest energy companies in the UK, designed to reduce carbon emissions and tackle fuel poverty,
The scheme is currently available in Wales until March 2026. The aim is to help vulnerable homeowners and private tenants improve the fuel efficiency of their property and reduce their energy bills.
Eligible properties will receive 100% free grant funding where a member of the household has a long term health condition or receives certain benefits or has a low household income.
The scheme is 100% funded, and covers the cost of energy saving measures such as solar panels, a new heating system including an air source heat pump and wall and loft insulation.
There are no hidden costs or catches, the scheme is 100% free, and the homeowner owns all of the equipment after installation.

GBIS - THE GREAT BRITISH INSULATION SCHEME
The GBIS (Great British insulation scheme) is an new government funded scheme aimed at supporting a broader ranger of homeowners and tenants to make their homes more energy efficient and in turn lowering their bills.
The scheme has the same eligibility criteria as the ECO4 scheme but in addition any homeowners or tenants whose property is in council tax bands A to E with an EPC above a D can also apply for funding.
Unlike the ECO4 scheme, households with mains gas as their main heating source can also apply for funding.
The scheme is 100% funded and covers the cost of new insulation*,new heating controls and all installation costs.
As with the ECO4 scheme there are no hidden costs or catches. The scheme is 100% free.
*The insulation type will be determined after a survey has been carried out. Only one type of insulation is allowed per property.
