GBIS - great british insulation scheme

GBIS is a new government funded scheme designed to help households
improve the energy efficiency of their homes and reduce their heating bills.

The scheme is available to homeowners and tenants*who are classed as having a low income, a long term health condition, receive certain benefits or live in a low council tax banded property with a low EPC rating (energy efficiency rating).

Unlike the ECO4 scheme, GBIS is also available for properties using mains gas as their main source of heating.

  • Loft insulation
  • Room in roof insulation
  • Flat roof insulation
  • Pitched roof insulation
  • Advanced heating controls e.g Nest or Hive

1. LOW HOUSEHOLD INCOME

If your total combined household income is under £31,000 a year, you could be eligible for funding.

2. benefits

If a member of your household is in receipt of one of the following benefits, you could qualify for funding.

  • Income Related Employment and Support Allowance (ESA)
  • Income Based Job Seekers Allowance (JSA)
  • Income Support
  • Housing Benefit
  • Pension Credit Guarantee Credit
  • Pension Credit Savings Credit
  • Universal Credit (UC)
  • Working Tax Credit (WTC)
  • Child Tax Credits (CTC)

If Child Benefit is the only benefit you receive, your household will need to have earned less than the amounts below.

Single parents

1 Child – £19,900
2 Children – £24,800
3 Children – £29,600
4+ Children – £34,500

Parents in a couple

1 Child – £27,500
2 Children – £32,300
3 Children – £37,200
4+ Children – £42,000

3. long term health condition

If a person living in your household is suffering from one of the following long-term health conditions, you could be eligible for a free grant.

  • A Cardiovascular Condition
  • A respiratory Disease
  • Limited mobility
  • Immunosuppression

These include medical conditions including arthritis, asthma, COPD, Diabetes, angina and other similar heart conditions, etc. 

4. council tax banding and low epc

If your property is in one of the following council tax bands and has a low EPC you could apply for your free grant today.

  • COUNCIL TAX BANDING

Any property in council tax bands A,B,C,D and E.

  • EPC - your properties energy rating.

Any property with an EPC of D,E,F or G.  If you're unsure of your

current EPC, get in touch and we can check this for you.
